Smitho demands ‘apology’ from Steven Marshall

1 min read

Mike Smithson has demanded opposition leader Steven Marshall apologise for a nautical run-in they recently had out on the water.

“I have been out on your boat, and I declare that,” Smitho said on FIVEAA brekkie. “We are both keen sailors and we’ve raced. Your language on board is at times… fruity, would you agree with that?”

Mr Marshall had a different recollection of their sailing encounter…

LISTEN HERE:

“You’ve got to make yourself known to the crew, like yourself Mike,” Mr Marshall said.

“I must say, you’ve got some great sailing skills and there wasn’t one single time that I thought I’d like to push you overboard.”

That was good enough for Smitho: “So Steven makes a public apology this morning for the language that he may or may not have used out on the water.”

“I haven’t seen that transcript so I’m not sure what you’re referring to,” Marshall said.

Meanwhile, FIVEAA brekkie co-host Tom Rehn sympathised with the opposition leader: “If you’re ever going to drop a few expletives at one person, I can understand that they’re levelled at Mike, that’s probably fair enough.”
