A US scientist is warning that Australians could “join the ranks of the world's climate refugees” as global temps rise and Australia suffers through one of its worst bushfire seasons.

In comments reported by 7 News, climatologist and geophysicist Michael Mann said:

"It is conceivable that much of Australia simply becomes too hot and dry for human habitation," said Dr Mann, director of the Earth System Science Center at Pennsylvania State University.

"In that case, yes, unfortunately, we could well see Australians join the ranks of the world's climate refugees."
