Premier Steven Marshall has spoken out on FIVEAA Breakfast after an interstate media commentator called him “Premier Marshmallow” and referred to the state’s chief public health officer as a “nutty professor”.
LISTEN HERE:
Mr Marshall responded to comments made by Paul Murray on Sky that “nutty professor chief medical officer in SA has got away for so long with rubbish… [and] Premier Marshmallow… he just follows this woman all day, every day.”
The Premier told FIVEAA Breakfast:
“I think personal abuse is never a good argument. Calling Professor Nicola Spurrier who is an outstanding epidemiologist, outstanding pediatrician, outstanding public heath clinician – calling her a nutty professor is disrespectful.
“I don’t think they recognise the amount of work and effort that go into making the decisions that are made in SA. We’ve had this approach since day one where we’ve been backing evidence, backing science, backing the experts and it’s served our state really well… we’ll continue to listen to the experts.”
