2 min read

LATEST

Victor Harbor Police are currently with two teenage girls missing from Victoria who crossed into South Australia overnight.

According to SAPOL:

About 7.14am today (Friday 28 May) SAPOL were contacted by Victoria Police, who advised them that the two girls had hitchhiked to South Australia, using several different vehicles to travel in to see another girl in Goolwa.

The three girls then travelled on a school bus from Goolwa with other students to Victor Harbor High School this morning.

The bus was stopped before the students could leave the bus, SAPOL is working with other agencies including SA Health, Victoria Police and Victor Harbor High School to ensure the safety of those on board.

The two teenage girls have been isolated and are cooperating with police.  Police and SA Health are making arrangements for the girls to be COVID tested.

If any person believes they may have given a lift to these two girls from the Victorian border to Goolwa to please isolate immediately and contact SA Health on the COVID hotline on 1800 253 787.

EYEWITNESS REPORT – AS IT HAPPENED:

14-year-old school student Hamish told FIVEAA’s Leon Byner his bus to Victor Harbor High School had been stopped by police as part of a COVID operation. From the bus Hamish told Leon Byner “there’s not much communication at the moment. No one’s sure what’s happening or where we’re going.” He had been on the bus for 30-40 minutes when he spoke to Leon just before 9:30am.

At 10:50am Leon Byner reports Hamish and other students are still on their bus in front of Victor Harbor High School. According to Leon: “Other schools could be affected. It is a COVID issue.”

Hamish contacted Leon Byner just before 11:30am to say he was now off the bus after having been on it for more than two hours total.
