Premier Jay Weatherill spoke to David & Will about acquiring the funds to fix the Oaklands Park crossing which causes major delays for commuters.
David asked whether this is just another trademark case of South Australia rattling the can in Canberra’s direction or whether there is a way the Federal Government can reshuffle some of the money allocated on other projects.
The Premier clarified his position saying he has written to Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull asking whether some of the funds devoted to the Northern Connector could be shifted to cover this growing problem.
“We know that the Prime Minister is keen on it because he came down during the election campaign and dropped $40 million on the table,” Premier Weatherill told David & Will.
“But it’s a $190 million project so there’s $150 million gap.
“It’s been on our long term list to do but it’s just a question of actually having the dough to get going with it,” he said.
