Monarto Zoo is about to get a scary new addition

1 min read

A $1.4 million “Predator Experience” will give visitors to Monarto Zoo the chance to put themselves in the heart of a lions’ den.

An underground tunnel will lead people into the centre of the zoo’s lion enclosure, where they will find themselves surrounded by up to 12 lions, according to statement released on Monday.

Zoos SA boss Elaine Bensted said the experience will be “truly hair-raising”.

“Monarto Zoo is home to one of the largest lion prides in the country, and this experience will allow our visitors to get closer than ever before,” she said.

The attraction has been modelled on the popular great white shark diving experience and construction will start in April.

It is expected to open later this year.
