A US man battling Alzheimer’s has appeared in a brutally honest video saying he misses laughing and joking with friends as the disease destroys his memory.

Alan Beamer made the video with the help of his wife, which went viral after they posted it on Facebook.

“What do you want people to know about Alzheimer’s?” Mr Beamer’s wife asks him at the start of the video.

“It’s a mean, mean, one of the meanest things I’ve ever seen in my life,” a teary Mr Beamer answers.

An emotional Mr Beamer was helped through the video by his wife who told him: “I’m just trying to get it out there.” | Image | Facebook

In one of the saddest moments of the video, Mr Beamer says he thinks his friends avoid him now that he has Alzheimer’s.

“I’m the same old person, and I wish my friends could come up and just talk to me just like they did before.”

Mr Beamer said that he would prefer people just ignore the fact he has Alzheimer’s.

“Well that’s something they need to know, because I don’t think people feel too comfortable,” his wife says.
