Major Crime investigating a murder in Adelaide

2 min read

LATEST

About 1.30am Wednesday 10 April emergency services were called to Barrpowell Street in Welland after reports a man was unresponsive on the roadway. Witnesses attempted to render assistance to the man, but sadly he died at the scene.

He has since been identified as 21-year-old Flinders Park man William Holdback.

It’s believed an altercation occurred in the street before the victim was assaulted with a weapon. The suspects fled the scene in a dark-coloured four-door sedan and were last seen heading north on Welland Avenue. The car is pictured below at the intersection of Welland and Gawler Avenues.

It is believed the victim is known to the suspects and this is not a random incident.

Major Crime officers, Crime Scene Investigators and Western District detectives attended the scene this morning.

Barrpowell Street and Musgrave Avenue were closed for several hours but have now reopened.

Anyone with information, including dash-cam or CCTV footage from the area, is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at www.crimestopperssa.com.au or phone 1800 333 000 – you can remain anonymous.

Police would like to thank members of the public who assisted and local business owners for their patience.
