Maggots And Cockroaches Found In Several Adelaide Eateries

Nov 4, 2019

22 food standards breaches -- including the presence of maggots and cockroaches -- have been recorded by Adelaide’s Eastern Health Authority for the 2018/19 financial year.

However a Freedom of Info request to reveal business names has been rejected.

According to The Advertiser:

Consumer groups say the public deserves to know more about the breaches, which include instances of:

LIVE maggots found at a food business;

TWO restaurants infested by cockroaches;

BREAD being made on the floor of a bakery;

VERMIN in a bakery;

A piece of metal in a meat roll at a food business.

The EHA isn’t naming names because it says it would not be fair to reveal businesses that have since cleaned up their acts.

The EHA covers Norwood Payneham & St Peters, Burnside, Campbelltown, Prospect and Walkerville councils.
