A Watch and Act message has been issued for the Ravine fire on Kangaroo Island after it broke control lines on Thursday morning while the Kersbrook fire is burning north towards Williamstown.

Regarding the KI fire, the CFS’ Rob Sandford told Adelaide radio on Thursday morning:

“As we’ve been saying the last couple of days today was going to be the day we’ll see the fire break the control lines and that’s already occured in the area known as Cassini,” Mr Sandford said.

“We have crews currently working really hard to try and contain that outbreak.

“Both Kingscote and Penneshaw have designated bushfire safer places and that information is available on our website.”
