Jeremy Cordeaux Is Offering A Cash Reward To Catch The “Bastard” Who Shot A Wombat 26 Times

1 min read

Legendary FIVEAA evenings announcer Jeremy Cordeaux is dipping into his own pockets to help catch whoever it was who shot a wombat 26 times with an air rifle.

The wombat was found barely alive in SA’s south-east this week.

Jeremy said during Tuesday night’s show:

“I can’t imagine anyone just pumping pellets into a poor little thing like that. They don’t move very quickly so it’s hardly sport… I’ve been thinking about it most of the night because it’s very disturbing. You’ve got people doing that to animals. It’s but a small step to doing it to people…

“Why don’t we do something like offer a reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person who did that. Chances are somebody did it while somebody else was watching. Maybe there was a witness, maybe there would be someone who is prepared to step forward and give us the information that would bring about an arrest and a conviction…

“Imagine surviving the bushfires and everything else that nature throws at these poor creatures and then some bastard comes along with an air rifle. I’ll put $5,000 on the table for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person who did that. It’s appalling.”
