A 60-year-old man is the fourth person to be arrested over a cannabis crop at a property in South Australia’s Riverland earlier this year.
Police found six plants, about 11kg of dried cannabis and two guns hidden in a wall cavity at a property in Chaffey, near Renmark, in January.
They say a 60-year-old Salisbury man was arrested on Thursday and will likely be charged with drug trafficking, cultivating cannabis and firearms offences.
Detective Chief Inspector Tony Crameri said the arrested man was “well known as a result of Operation Cornus, which was involved in the investigation of the NCA bombing back in 1994”.
Detective-Sergeant Geoffrey Bowen was killed and lawyer Peter Wallis was severely wounded when a parcel bomb was delivered to the National Crime Authority building on Waymouth St.
Mr Crameri said Thursday’s arrest was a result of info handed over to the drug and organised crime task force.
“There was no issues with the arrest this morning,” he said. “The person was taken away and taken to the city watch house.”
