Friday’s train strike has been called off

1 min read

UPDATE – Adelaide rail workers have backed down on a threatened peak hour strike.

On Thursday, deputy premier John Rau confirmed Friday’s strikes would no longer go ahead — meaning commuters travelling to Adelaide v West Coast at Adelaide Oval will not be impacted.

“We regard this as a very important good-faith gesture by the union,” Mr Rau told reporters on Thursday.

“This does not mean that all the issues are yet resolved between the government and the employees.

“That’s something we will continue to work upon but I do regard this as a very promising sign.”

It was earlier reported that the state government would engage the Fair Work Commission to try and stop the strike action, which would have hit customers trying to travel to Adelaide Oval for Crows v West Coast.

Now there are reports the action will be called off.
