Adelaide Lord Mayor Sandy Verschoor says flags around the city are at half-mast to honour the victims of the volcano eruption in New Zealand.
The Lord Mayor told FIVEAA’s Leith Forrest on Tuesday afternoon:
“It’s just awful.
“Our hearts go out to their families. I think there were 16 people on the boat from Adelaide. It’s the sort of tragedy you never expect to happen, especially on holidays.
“Our hearts go out to their friends and family.”
Flags around the @CityofAdelaide are being lowered to Half-Mast to honour the victims of yesterday's tragic events on White Island, New Zealand. Our thoughts are with those who were caught in the eruption, as well as their families and friends.
