The state opposition is calling for SA to follow the lead of Queensland and WA and only allow non-residents who have a permit for genuine travel past the state’s borders.
In comments reported by 7 News, Labor leader Peter Malinauskas said:“You should not be allowed to come into South Australia unless you are a South Australian resident or have a permit. “One of the best ways we can prevent South Australians from contracting COVID-19 is preventing people from crossing our borders. “No permit, no entry means that the only people coming into South Australia are those that we need.”
“You should not be able to come into South Australia unless you’re a South Australian resident or you have a permit and if no permit, no entry. This would go a long way, we believe, to preventing another cluster outbreak” – @PMalinauskasMP calls for a “hard” border closure for SA pic.twitter.com/pEX7ORk7SB
