BOM Severe Weather WARNING -- Next front is on its way

2 min read

The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe weather warning for most of the state as the next phase of the super storm makes its way towards Adelaide.

The warning is for damaging winds and abnormally high tides.

Multiple low pressure systems will increase the potential for damaging winds and rainfall Thursday afternoon and into the evening, according to the bureau.

It has forecast strong to gale force winds with gusts of up to 120 km/h and sea levels along parts of Spencer Gulf and Gulf St Vincent coastlines reaching about one metre higher than the highest tide of the year.

Sea level at the Outer Harbor tide gauge is forecast to reach about 3.4 to 3.8 metres — and may cause flooding of low lying areas.

The weather warning is current for:

Adelaide Metropolitan, Mount Lofty Ranges, Lower Eyre Peninsula, Eastern Eyre Peninsula, Yorke Peninsula, Kangaroo Island, Flinders, Mid North, Riverland, Murraylands and parts of the West Coast, North West Pastoral and North East Pastoral districts.

The SES advises that people should:

* Move vehicles under cover or away from trees;

* Secure or put away loose items around your property.

* Don’t drive, ride or walk through flood water;

* Stay indoors, away from windows, while conditions are severe.
