Royal Show GM Michelle Hocking has flagged a series of changes to the event, including starting it on a Saturday and running it one day shorter.
Hocking told FIVEAA Breakfast’s David & Will on Tuesday:
“We’re still working a lot through for 2021 but the biggest change will be the show will start on Saturday 4 September and go through to Sunday 12 September.”
She said the event had taken a “huge hit” after it was cancelled in 2020.
“We had the virtual show which went really well, but it’s nothing like a real show. It’s a financial variation for us over a two-year period of anywhere between 7 and 10 million dollars. We’re still looking at those numbers.
“It’s not just the Royal Show, it’s other events that we hold at the showgrounds. We had half a dozen events that we had to cancel over the last two weeks.”
