Aussie Disposals is expected to close more than half its stores after it “collapsed into administration after suffering the twin hits of the summer bushfires and the coronavirus”.
According to Fairfax:
The company is expected to close as many as 12 of its 36 stores which are located in NSW, Victoria and South Australia. Staff were notified of the administration on Wednesday.
[Co-owner] Mark Purvis told The Age and The Sydney Morning Herald that a restructure of the group would see only 11 corporate stores in operation.
“Our intention is to trade through this and reduce the number of stores so we can ultimately come out the other side with a smaller group of stores and be in a better position than what we are now in,” Mr Purvis said.
“We are an Australian-born business and we hope to stay as a core Australian retailer,” he said.
