Adelaide-based shipbuilder ASC announced on Wednesday that it will be shedding 175 jobs by the end of October.
The jobs will be lost from the Air Warfare Destroyer (AWD) project …
“This activity is part of the planned and progressive reductions that have been occurring since … the project reached its peak,” said ASC.
In May the company told a Senate hearing it would be cutting 640 jobs from its Osborne operation over the next 18 months as the AWD project slowed.
Of the 175 lost jobs — about 75 are permanent … the rest are contract positions.
