Aliens might exist on one of Saturn's moons

2 min read

There may be methane-breathing aliens inhabiting Saturn’s moon Titan.

According to new research coming out of Cornell University, Saturn’s moon Titan may be host to an alien life form.

The living beings would depend on methane for survival (like we depend on oxygen), which make them much hardier than Earthlings.

These aliens could be as small as the size of bacteria, but even the start of life may indicate the potential for growth, the same way life on Earth grew.

The reason this is such a breakthrough hypothesis is the concept of “inhabitable environments” has always centred around the presence of water.

But now, scientists are taking a less traditional approach, with the suggestion water might not actually be the only substance capable of sustaining life.

Some more super interesting facts about Titan:

1. You could fly in Titan’s sky with a pair of home made wings – it’s thick atmosphere and low gravity means if you flap your arms with a strapped on pair of wings, you’ll fly with no more effort than walking.

2. It’s the only other world we know of that has liquid on its surface. These are rivers and lakes formed by liquid hydrocarbons.

3. We landed a spacecraft on it in 2005, and there is a proposal to do it again using a boat…

4. It’s actually bigger than Mercury. At over 8000 kilometres, Titan is more massive than all of Saturn’s other 61 moons combined.
