The AFL says it will continue to monitor the situation ahead of the St Kilda vs. Port Adelaide clash in China in May as the country’s death toll from the coronavirus reaches 100.
According to the AFL (source: adelaidenow.com.au)
“The AFL will take advice from the Australian government and World Health Organisation regarding any safety precautions related to the coronavirus,” it said in a statement.
“The St Kilda vs. Port Adelaide match scheduled to be played in Shanghai on May 31 will go ahead as planned.
“The situation will continue to be monitored with the relevant health and safety precautions being exercised.”
FIVEAA’s Stephen Rowe told FIVEAA Breakfast on Wednesday:
“I’ve contacted Port and the AFL in the last 24 hours, both said they’re keeping an eye on it. Their exact words together: nothing’s changed.
“I reckon there has to be a contingency plan and I reckon it would already be in place. It is a watch and act. Unless the virus is 100 per cent contained there will be a zero risk policy.”
