Kimberley Pratt from 7NEWS might have been struggling with the stench of a whale carcass while reporting from St Kilda on Tuesday – watch the video here – but she tells FIVEAA Breakfast it didn’t faze several other spectators on the scene.
Kimberley told David & Will:
“You won’t believe this but as we were sitting there watching this animal being dissected there was a family of five sitting on the rocks eating fish and chips – just having the most immersive experience.”
Kimberley said the stink – which nearly made her gag on camera – was “something to behold”.
“A bit of rotting flesh, that seafood aroma, a bit of blood and guts – big thick wafts as the wind would carry it across myself and all the spectators that came out to watch…
“As soon as they stared getting into the organ area and the big digger came in and took a load it just took over the entire place.”
