A man has been lucky to escape after his car was hit by a freight train last night at Nairne.
According to SAPOL:
Just before 9.00pm last night (Thursday 12 May 2022) a car attempted to do a U-turn train crossing at Jeffrey Street. The vehicle became stuck and the single occupant abandoned his vehicle, before an oncoming freight train collided with it. The vehicle was dragged over 100 meters from where it was initially impacted by the train.
Mount Barker police, Paramedics, MFS, and SES attended the scene. Luckily no one was injured.
The train line was closed in both directions for several hours but has since re-opened.
