West Coast Should Say Sorry For Naitanui Cameraman Clash, Says Mark Robinson

2 min read

UPDATE, 11.41am — Eagles confirm Nic Nat requires a knee reconstruction as coach Adam Simpson backs the club official who got into a scuffle with cameramen.

“It’s one of those ones where you put it into context,” Simpson has told SEN. “We sat at the airport for six hours all up by the time we landed in Perth, it was 12 o’clock at night, we entered and exited in a loading bay area, so not through the public eye.”

“Cameras were there, which, it’s their job. They were asked to leave before the camera started filming, they’d been there for a little bit and then they didn’t.

“I understand both ends.

“Peter Staples has been so good to Nic. He’s been almost full-time with Nic over the last few years because he’s so giving.

“So for the one time we wanted a bit of privacy, unfortunately we couldn’t get it. That’s the job.

“I’ll back in Peter Staples before anyone else, so I’m comfortable.”

Fox Footy’s Mark Robinson has called on the West Coast Eagles to apologise after a club official pushed around cameramen who were filming injured ruckman Nic Naitanui at Perth Airport.

“You know when I see these pictures? Outside Magistrate’s Courts and stuff,” Robinson said on AFL 360.

“We’re not treating Nic Naitanui like a criminal… he looks like a criminal but he’s not.

“The Eagles should apologise for that. That is ridiculous.

“We just care about Nic Nat, and that’s the name of the game. He gets filmed doing great things and unfortunately when things go bad, as they have at the moment, it’s part of the news cycle.”
