UPDATE: Thursday 17 May 2018 — Father jailed.
The father who encouraged his son to bash another teenager has been ordered to serve the first two months of his five-month sentence in prison.
Magistrate Rodney Oates said:
“The attack was prolonged, [the victim] could not retaliate, it was cruel and a frightening breach of trust.
“[The man] should have sought to resolve the situation — however he actively participated, directed and inflamed it.”
The man cannot be identified because his son — a minor — has also been charged.
LAST YEAR…
Video has surfaced of a father and his son assaulting another boy in Port Augusta.
In the clip the father can be heard demanding that the victim apologise for spitting on his daughter while the son punches the boy.
Police have arrested the man and boy and charged them with aggravated assault.
