Tourism In South Australia Just Set A New Record!

Jan 9, 2019

A record number of tourists are visiting South Australia, taking the state’s “visitor economy” to $6.9 billion, says the SA Tourism Commission.

The latest figures come from the International and National Visitor Survey, and according to SATC:

“The biggest boost comes from interstate guests, with 2.5 million visitors spending a record $2.2 billion in South Australia. This growth complements an increase in international expenditure, now at $1.15 billion, which is a 4% increase compared to 12 months ago.”

Acting Tourism Minister David Pisoni said:

“When we attract more tourists to experience the wonders of South Australia and our world-class events we grow our economy and help create more local jobs.

“It’s particularly pleasing to see that regional South Australia is enjoying the boom, receiving 62 per cent of all domestic visits.

“We look forward to building on this momentum by ensuring that South Australia continues to deliver world-class events and experiences to our valued visitors particularly in the regions, through new and exciting government initiatives.”
