Former state treasurer Tom Koutsantonis hasn’t ruled out running for the leadership after Jay Weatherill resigned following Labor’s election loss.
Koutsantonis only insisted the party would put its “best foot forward”.
“We’ll get together and choose the best person, whoever that is,” he told Sky News on Monday.
“We’ve had two leaders in 20 years in the South Australia Labor party, and every Labor leader we’ve elected has gone on to become premier since Don Dunstan. We take the position very, very seriously. We’ll get together — there’s plenty of time, the focus is on the government.
“People only stopped voting just over 40 hours ago… there’s no rush.
“Let’s just wait to see what the makeup of the caucus is. We’ll get together in a collegiate way and choose the best person, whoever he or she is.”
