Energy Minister Tom Koutsantonis is backing the state’s power supply to hold up during this week’s hot weather.
Mr Koutsantonis said on Wednesday he had spoken with the CEO of AEMO after the operator issued a blackout warning for the state.
“We’re very comfortable about the next three days,” the minister told FIVEAA.
“What they’re saying for tomorrow is we might be able to lose 545MW before anything goes wrong — that’s not including our own generators. In terms of reserves, there’s plenty there.
“Of course we can’t forecast fire or power lines coming down or through extreme hear generators blowing up. But as far as we’re concerned we’re going to be ok over the next three days.”
