Comedian Tom Gleeson is copping some blowback after he ran down his own award in a speech he gave after winning the Gold Logie on Sunday night.
“There’s been a lot of concern that I’m turning this award into a joke,” Tom said in his controversial speech.
“This award has done a lot of great things for a lot of different people. In the past it has represented trying to get more diversity on the screen or launching charities and that’s fantastic.
“But for me it represents a joke, but I love jokes. I really enjoy them. I really think we should all lighten the f**k up.”

Entertainment reporter Peter Ford called the comments “bitter and sad”.
“Like the bogan taken to an antique shop who decides to carve his name into the furniture with a Stanley knife,” Peter tweeted. “He thinks he knows a lot about TV -but clearly not brevity or class.”
