Beloved children’s TV show Thomas the Tank Engine is getting a modern day upgrade based on advice from the United Nations.
Mattel — owner of the Thomas brand — consulted with the UN before adding two new major female characters called Nia and Rebecca.
According to The Sun:
* Nia and Rebecca will appear in every episode and help fix the gender imbalance at the shed where Thomas and the other main characters live.
* Three of the seven engines at Tidmouth Sheds will be female — up from just one.
* Thomas will visit real countries for the first time, there’s a new theme song, the characters will crack more jokes and the narrator will be gone, replaced by the voice of Thomas.
The new look ‘Thomas & Friends’ TV series will appear next year.

Are you on board with the changes, or is the show just bowing to political correctness? https://t.co/U8PlsNLHUa
