The Royal Adelaide Hospital has reportedly earned more than $3.6 million in parking revenue from patients and visitors in just one year, while a further $7 million has been collected from hospital staff.
According to Channel 7:
South Australia’s state Liberal government says charges have been slashed on its watch.
A day’s parking costs $24 at Royal Adelaide and while nearby hospitals offer the first hours free there is no such exemption at Royal Adelaide.
However, people can apply for a long-stay pass worth $38 a week.
“The revenue’s used in a number of ways, one is the maintenance of the car park on site, line-marking, additional signage and then any remaining revenue is invested in health services,” a SA Health spokesperson said.
