Sports stars including Patrick Dangerfield are lining up to defend Tim Cahill as FIFA announces an investigation into one of his goal celebrations during Australia’s win over Syria this week.
A now deleted TripADeal social post following the win referenced Cahill “doing the TripADeal ‘T’ after he scored the winning goal”. Cahill replied with his own post, saying it was “Always a pleasure”.
Now FIFA says it is:
“Reviewing and analysing the reports from the referees and the match commissioners for all matches in FIFA competitions. Events which require further attention may be communicated accordingly.”
A couple of high-profile supporters have made their thoughts known:
FIFA upset about potential OVER THE TABLE deal for Tim… upset they didn’t get a cut… #underthetable #potkettle #leaveTimalone https://t.co/cBFBgOo23A

FIFA would have let it pass if the sponsorship money came in a briefcase, “anonymously” of course https://t.co/2i3T0Akyyt
