Smoke Is Billowing Behind West End Brewery Following An Explosion

**BREAKING** Explosions can be heard and black plumes of smoke are visible from behind the West End Brewery, reports Gertie Spurling from 7 News.

The explosions are believed to have occurred at the local power substation.

More than 5,000 homes and buildings are currently without power in the surrounding area -- Underdale, Torrensville, Hindmarsh and Thebarton.

More than 40 firefighters are currently battling the blaze at the structure on West Thebarton Rd after receiving reports of an explosion at about 2.15pm.

“MFS advises that crews are responding to a structure fire at a electrical sub station.

“The location of the emergency West Thebarton Rd at Thebarton.

“The emergency is causing a large amount of smoke in Thebarton and surrounding suburbs. Residents are advised to remain indoors and close all doors and windows until the smoke has passed. Motorists should avoid West Thebarton Road and surrounding streets.”
