Two teenagers charged over a plot to carry out a schoolyard attack in the Riverland planned to trap students and then shoot them.
Reporting for The Advertiser, Sean Fewster says the boys, 16 and 19, “used social media to plan a suicide-pact attack on the school while dressed in trench coats to mirror the infamous Columbine killers with whom they were obsessed”.
“Part of the plan involved setting off explosive devices at the entry and exit points of school buildings so that they students would effectively be trapped inside,” Prosecutor Jim Pearce QC told the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
“Then, once armed with weapons, they would be able to shoot people.
“At one stage, the 16-year-old told another boy ‘by the end of the day we’re already dead’ … this was a suicide pact.”
