SA Police will target drink and drug drivers in a “major operation” across every police district in the state this weekend.
On Friday Superintendent Robert Gray said:
“Any police officer, at any time can pull a driver over and request they undergo a random breath test — so the community should already be well aware that they should not drink and drive.
“However, we know that people still make irresponsible choices when they get behind the wheel, putting themselves and other road users at risk.
“I’m warning the community that at some stage this weekend — both in the metropolitan and country areas — we will be running a major operation conducting random breath tests.
“I will not be specific about where and when, I am simply urging drivers to do the right thing.
“This weekend’s highly visible operation will see random breath testing occurring in every police District and Local Service Area across the state.
“Today I not only urge motorists to consider their own behaviour, but put them on notice that this type of operation will continue to occur as police do what we can to focus on the five behaviours that we know cause deaths and serious injuries on our roads.”
