Public transport fares will be slashed by the State Labor Government, saving regular public transport users up to $306 each year.
The new fares come into effect on Tuesday 3 April and will make South Australia the cheapest state in the nation for public transport fares.
CHANGES:
- the cost of the 28-day unlimited travel pass will be reduced
- a new cheaper 14-day unlimited travel pass will be introduced
- the $5 fee for a new or replacement MetroCard will be scrapped.
Under changes to the 28-day unlimited travel pass:
· The full-fare will reduce from $124.50 to $99 – a $25.50 saving.
· The concession 28-day unlimited travel pass will reduce from $62.20 to $49 – a $13.20 saving.
· The student (primary and secondary) 28-day unlimited travel pass will reduce from $41.50 to $25 – a $16.50 saving.
Under the new 14-day unlimited travel pass:
· The full-fare pass will cost $60 – equivalent to $3 a trip.
· The concession pass will cost $29.50 – equivalent to $1.48 a trip.
· The student (primary and secondary) pass will cost $15.10 – equivalent to $0.76 a trip.
