According to SAPOL:

Police and paramedics were called to Victoria Street, Adelaide just before midnight on Friday 24 May after a young man was found lying in the road with a broken ankle.  He was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital where he underwent surgery.

The victim had been punched to the head by an unknown offender, causing him to fall to the ground and break his ankle.

There appeared to have been no prior physical altercation.
