Opposition Leader’s Office Roped Off After A Woman Was Stabbed Next Door

A 50-year-old woman has suffered serious injuries after she was allegedly stabbed next door to state opposition leader Peter Malinuaskas’ electorate office.

According to SAPOL:

A man has been arrested following an incident at Welland this morning which left a woman in hospital with serious injuries.

Police will allege just before 5am on Friday 11 January, police and emergency crews were called to Port Road following reports of a stabbing.

On arrival they located a woman had been stabbed in the abdomen with a steak knife.

The suspect, who is known to the victim, was located at the house where he was arrested without further incident.  The 36-year-old man from West Hindmarsh has been charged with committing an assault that causes harm.

It is believed he will be refused bail to appear in court later today.

The 50-year-old victim has been taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital where she is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
