The state government will stump up $100,000 to fund a new Flinders Uni scholarship awarded in honour of Kirsty Boden.
Kirsty became known as the “Angel of London Bridge” after she was killed while helping victims of a terror attack in June.
On Thursday Premier Jay Weatherill said:
“This scholarship is a fitting honour and lasting legacy to help preserve the memory of Kirsty by fostering the best and brightest of a new generation of aspiring nurses.
“An exceptional student from Loxton, Kirsty herself won a scholarship to study abroad.
“We recognise that there are additional challenges faced by regional students in pursuing their dreams, and this scholarship aims to ease the financial burden for students of great potential but limited means.”
Applications are now open until 31 January for two Flinders University students in their third year of study to be receive $10,000 each.
