Motorists are being warned to expect long delays at the bottom of the Southern Expressway this weekend.
The Advertiser reports that Main South Rd traffic will be directed on to new roads between the expressway and Lincoln Rd beginning on Friday night, before a permanent solution is in place by Monday morning.
“During the switch, traffic will be continually monitored and managed to minimise disruption, but drivers are encouraged to plan ahead or use an alternate route,” Mr Mullighan said.
“Motorists are advised to plan ahead, allow additional travel time, take extra care when workers are on site and observe speed and lane restrictions.
“This section of South Rd is a notorious and frustrating bottleneck.”
Main South Rd, Flinders Dr and Sturt Rd will remain open.
