Eating Chicken Linked To Higher Rate Of Cancer

Researchers have reportedly found a link between people who eat chicken products and an increased chance of developing three different types of cancer.

According to 9 News:

Researchers from the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom surveyed the meat consumption patterns of 475,488 British people aged between 37 and 73 and monitored health ramifications over five years.

The study found more than 23,000 of the participants were diagnosed with any type of cancer during that time and the consumption of chicken was associated with malignant melanoma, prostate cancer and non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

But according to 9, Sydney doctor Penny Adam says the research only shows “as association”.

“This study just shows an association,” she said. “It doesn’t show a mechanism where the chicken actually causes cancer. At this stage I would be not be concerned.”
