Iconic local brewer Coopers has unveiled a new Extra Pale Ale with a distinctive purple label.
The new beer was officially launched at festival in Melbourne on Friday.
Extra Pale Ale (XPA) is a recent US beer style that is gaining momentum in the Australian market. The style is evolving and often described as sitting somewhere between an American Pale Ale and an Indian Pale Ale (IPA) with the key factor being the use of American Hop varieties.
Coopers XPA is all about ‘extra’ hop flavour whilst being well balanced and easy to drink. We use an equal ratio of Simcoe and Lemondrop during dry hopping but a higher percentage of Simcoe in the whirlpool to achieve the optimal bitterness level.
With its famous Coopers Ale yeast and smooth malt character, Coopers XPA exhibits citrus undertones with aromas of grapefruit and a hint of mandarin.
