A young QLD schoolgirl has been given detention after she refused to either stand or excuse herself during the national anthem.
Year 4 student Harper Nielsen, 9, has also refused to sign a written apology and now faces suspension from Kenmore South State School.
Harper has told News Corp:
“The reason why I don’t sing it or stand is because — Advance Australia Fair means advance White Australia,” she said.
“When it says we are young it completely ignores the fact that indigenous culture was here for over 50,000 thousand years before colonisation.”
