A plane has crashed in South Australia

UPDATE, 12.27pm — Police confirm deaths, no survivors.

SAPOL has confirmed three people are dead after a light aircraft crashed near Mt Gambier on Wednesday morning. The sad news comes as the first images from the scene appear on social media.

UPDATE, 11.51am — Reports of fatalities.

EARLIER…

Emergency services are at the scene of a plane crash at Suttontown in the state’s south east.

“The small plane crashed into a paddock near the intersection of Walker Road and Sunnybrae Road, Suttontown just before 10.30am on Wednesday 28 June,” SA Police reports.

Emergency services rushed to the scene, located just south of Mount Gambier Airport.

Further resources from SAPOL’s Major Crash and the Australian Transport Safety Bureau will be attending to assist the investigation into the crash.

Walker Road has been closed to traffic between Hinton Road and Sunnybrae Road.
