Screen Australian has announced $3.5 million in funding for 12 upcoming projects, including a film based on Jimmy Barnes’ early years in Adelaide.
Working Class Boy will be based on Barnesy’s best-selling autobiography of the same name and follow his hard knock early years in Glasgow and Adelaide’s “forlorn immigrant suburbs”, according to the film agency.
Other projects to get funding include a feature-length version of Violeta Ayala and Daniel Fallshaw’s award-winning Guardian short The Fight, a second season of Filthy Rich & Homeless, and a three-part series delving into the life of cult leader Anne Hamilton-Byrne.
