19 Cars Have Been Damaged In An Adelaide Vandalism Spree

2 min read

A teenage girl has been arrested after she allegedly broke into a shop at Marion and later damaged 19 vehicles at a premises in Sturt overnight.

According to SAPOL:

Just before 1am on Friday 12 July, up to three people used a shopping trolley to smash  the front window of an outdoor clothing shop at the Marion Shopping Centre and then stole various items of clothing.

The three suspects then fled on laser scooters. Police patrols searched the area but were unable to locate the offenders.

Just before 3.30am this morning police patrols were called to a government department building on Diagonal Road at Sturt following reports a youth was damaging cars.  On patrols arrival a teenage girl was seen to jump on a laser scooter and scoot away from the scene, but a  young patrol officer gave chase on foot and detained her a short distance away.

On further assessment police counted 19 cars had been damaged with windows smashed and car fire extinguishers set off.

On interviewing the suspect, officers noticed she was wearing brand clothing  identical to that stolen from the break-in at the Marion shop.

The 16-year-old girl from Elizabeth has been charged with aggravated serious criminal trespass, theft and property damage.

She has been refused police bail and will appear in the Christies Youth Court later today.

Police enquiries are continuing on the remaining suspects from the break-in, anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact Crime Stoppers 1800 333 000.
