A 112-year-old woman in Nepal who has smoked 30 cigarettes a day for 95 years says the keys to living a long life are to stay active and avoid stress.

Batuli Lamichhane was born in 1903 and started smoking when she was 17.

“People of this modern age have too much stress. And those who do not work or are idle in their old age won’t live long,” Batuli has told the Daily Mail.

“You have to be active and stress free. You should always be happy, then you will live a long life.

“I don’t really care how old I am. But I am old nonetheless. I have seen a lot of things change during my lifetime.”

A life-long chain smoker, Batuli shuns “commercially made” cigarettes, instead smoking locally made tobacco wrapped in tendu leaf.

“I have been smoking for over 95 years. There is nothing wrong with smoking,” she said.

But Batuli still has some work to do if she wants the title of oldest person in the world…

That honour currently goes to Susannah Mushatt Jones who is the oldest person in the world.

Her secret? Bacon and eggs every morning.

Miss Jones reportedly has a sign hanging in her kitchen that reads: “Bacon makes everything better”.

Wise words.

Look, we’re not saying smoking cigarettes and eating bacon will increase the length of your life… but it sure has worked for these two!
