A woman found out she was expecting a baby from her Fitbit

2 min read

A couple from New York City discovered that they are expecting after seeing unusual data on the wife’s Fitbit.

Welcome to the age where a Fitbit knows you’re pregnant before you do.

Reddit user YoungPTone took to Reddit to try and work out why his wife was having trouble with her wristband…

“My wife’s Fitbit is showing her heartbeat being consistently high over the last few days. 2 days ago, a somewhat normal day, she logged 10 hours in the fat burning zone, which I would think to be impossible based on her activity level. Also her calories burned do seem accurate. I would imagine if she was in the fat burning zone she would burn a tone of calories, so its not lining up. I’m not sure if something is wrong with the sensor, is there a way to reset or recalibrate the device? I’d like to try that before I contact customer service about a possible replacement.”

One Reddit user responded saying, “Has she experienced anything really stressful in the last few days or is it a possibility she is pregnant?”.

A few days later the dad-to-be posted that his wife was indeed pregnant, telling Buzzfeed, “It’s definitely a great story to tell the baby one day about how it happened.”

So if your fitness tracker is playing up, or constantly returning weird or strange data you could actually be pregnant.

This isn’t the first time that a Fitbit captured something strange, just last month Koby Soto’s Fitbit captured the moment he had his heartbroken. In a photo he uploaded to Twitter, Koby pointed out the time he got the call from his now ex, showed his heart rate massively spiked.

His heart rate shot up from his resting rate of 72 up to over 90 beats per minute, even getting up to 118 before dropping back down as he tried to sleep…

Welcome to the future!
