The Advertiser’s Sean Fewster has stared down elements within the justice system and declared no one put him up to writing a defence of maligned Court Sherrif’s Officers during the week.

Fewster slammed as “appalling” those within the court system who have accused Sherrif’s Officers of laziness, inflexibility and unprofessionalism.

LISTEN HERE:

“These guys have been attacked by this report,” Sean told David and Will on FIVEaa brekkie…

“All of these allegations are coming from people that work within the courts, the people that move the papers that sign the papers… they’re saying these Sheriff’s Officers are terrible and they’re not looking after us properly.

“Any other industry you’d go on strike.

“These Sheriff’s Officers they’re hurt, they’re upset, they feel betrayed, they have no faith left in their management after this… [but] they’re still there.”

Sean said some within the Courts Administration Authority had been wondering who put him up to writing his article…

“A quick mention here to the CAA,” Sean said. “Nobody put me up to writing the article. It’s called an opinion piece -- it’s my opinion based on what I saw.”

“I’ve seen these guys face down people with knives, I’ve seen them face down people with box cutters, I’ve seen them frisk bikies that have got all sorts of weaponry.”

Sean believes the swipe at officers is an attempt to justify privatisation…

“Apparently it’s going to be potentially cheaper to bring in a private security firm.”
