I wanted to vote for Kouta but his name is not on the list.

How come there was no Liberal Party members on this list? How can I be expected to vote for any member of the labor party to be treasurer after the mess they have made of this state?

Pity we can't replace all of the incompetent dolts. A waste of good oxygen the lot of them!

ElizabethFred, How can you have a Liberal Treasurer with a Labor Premier?

by jesh (26/01/2011)

How about someone who has financial expertise, accounting skills, someone who can actually work with budgets, cash and knows how to make profits.
Someone who has a clue

I agree replace him with a fully qualified accredited accountant that knows about finnacial budgeting and can work out the costings of projects. This would elliminate blowouts and the money could be evenly divided to bulters our Hospitals and education etc.
Now thats what I would call a STATE TREASURER.

I'm not for one moment going to try to defend Mr Foley, but if you posters were in any way knowledgeable about the workings of government then you would realise that the Dept of Treasury and Finance advises The Treasurer (read the govt of the day) on policy and finance. This department is staffed by people who have degrees in accountancy and other fiscal qualifications. These people put forward options and advice. Decisions are then made in cabinet as to which of those policies/financial options will be put in place. The treasurer of the day then makes the appropriate announcement.

If that's all he does, makes announcements, then it shouldn't be too difficult to find a replacement.

Definitely not an accountant, if you want to start a small business you buy a big business & put an accountant in charge, in no time you'll have a small business.

I assume Pat Conlan wasted almost $500,000 , to prove to his Labor mates
.
That he is just as capable of wasting very scarce TaxPayers Funds , as other Treasurer Candidates
.
On an office
.
That he wants to leave , for the Treasurers Office
.
Where he will probably waste even more money
.
Changing that to his tastes
.
Quasi-Socialists are extremely good at wasting other peoples money
.
Envious,ButPoorJeffers (Pat will find it difficult Out-Spending Swanny in $/Head tho)
.
P.S Foleys $2 Million/Day Interest Payment Legacy is also hard to match

POLICY is created by the faceless men (note men) in the smokefilled (no pc there) backrooms of the labor party's headquarters.
They then pass it on to the ministers, who pass "their" ideas on to the department for drafting, it is then put into parliment for the ceccessary laws to be passed, then the department create the "regulations" which ignore everything that was said in parliament and the department does what it wants.
I thought you were pretty cluey in what goes on in your government, but obviously you are just a minion.

I thought you were pretty cluey in what goes on in your government, but obviously you are just a minion........from EF

Can't resist having a childish dig as usual.
To be a minion of the government I would have to be employed by them or be dependant on them. I've said elsewhere that I am not and have never been employed by the govt. I am self employed and do not now nor have I ever been in receipt of any govt assisitance other than child endowment when it was called that. Can you say the same Freddy?
As for the rest of your post, that just shows how totally ignorant you are of the workings of govt.

With all these qualified people on the Public Servant payroll you would think our State would be able to afford to pay them all, you would think that as you said that this "department is staffed by people who have degrees in accountancy and other fiscal qualifications". Would be able to budget. Now lets see how many Millions out was the Desal plant? How many millions out was the Northern expressway? and the list goes on and on in blowouts.
I do know the workings of a government. these days its called political spin alias B******T!

My Big Bro lives in NSW (for about 60yrs!) and says that the current govt and Kennealy (?) are hated there.

by tash8497 (27/01/2011)

From AdelaideNow dicussing the fortunes of the NSW labor govt:

+++Labor's vote has sunk to such a position that it fears it could win just 13 to 15 seats in the wake of the disastrous sale of retailers and gentraders, after it was revealed taxpayers will receive less than $1 billion.
There is palpable anger in Labor ranks that Mr Roozendaal had botched the power sale and that Ms Keneally has backed him.
Mr Robertson is tipped to become opposition leader after the election and a further botched sale could leave him with 10 seats in the Lower House.+++

For those that don't know, Roozendaal is treasurer and Robertson is deputy leader of labor party. *Note how they refer to him as "opposition leader" after the election. Like, Keneally is not even expected to retain her seat let alone the leadership

by ElizabethFred (27/01/2011)

What will happen is as it should be. The people will vote in NSW, and if good sense prevails, the Labor Govt. will fall.
Unfortunately, it will be the same circus with different clowns in place.

I was actually Serious Cob , after all he has been a very successfull business man in our state for a long time,"Gerard Industries" (Clipsals) he oviously understands money and where its best spent in the state , He has sponsored a lot of events and Clubs in SA , but maybe the only downfall is that he sold off some of his own company to China ,

I laughed not because he would be not good at it
On the contrary .he would be great to get this
State going.I laugh because he would make
Growing this state a priority ,not the unions & labor party.there's no way on earth there going to have
That
